Other Hooved Mammals

On this site, the "deer and antelope" group, as well as the "pigs" group include hooved animals, yet there are other hooved animals that are readily photographed in our surveys. This group includes the ‚??odd-toed ungulates‚?? (17 species) which includes horses and their closer relatives like zebra, as well as tapirs and all species of rhinoceros. We have also included here the bovids not included in the ‚??deer and antelope‚?? group, which include goats, sheep, cattle, and related species like buffalo, banteng and gaur. Animals in this group, like the deer and antelope, are commonly photographed by trail cameras, due partially to their larger size, and relatively slow rate of ground travel.
